    AIR Avionics equipment is known in the market as reliable and robust. Nevertheless, the need for repairs arises again and again for various reasons. Common reasons include mechanical overstress, environmental conditions such as moisture, or simply the wear and aging of components – after all, many of our devices have been in service since the 2000s.

    With now more than 40,000 delivered systems and assemblies, which are often used in daily flight operations, the repair volume and the number of defects has also increased over the years, so that today we process hundreds of repairs per year.

    In order to take this into account quickly and in a customer-friendly manner, we exchange defective devices directly for an equivalent device at the low price of a normal repair. You will even receive the exchange device before sending in your defective device.

  • Before: frustration and waiting times.

    The volume of repairs, which is mostly concentrated in the spring (the majority of repairs are carried out in April, May and June), regularly pushes our workshop and customer service team to the limit. In the past, this, unfortunately, caused long repair times of up to six weeks.

    As a small company, it is hardly possible for us to drastically increase our staffing levels at short notice in seasonal business. Repairs to avionics systems require highly trained specialists with years of relevant experience and appropriate licenses.

    Increasing the workforce to keep repair times at a tolerable level throughout the year, i.e. even during peak periods, would greatly increase repair costs. This is unattractive both for our customers and for us.

  • Today: Fast, inexpensive solution.

    To solve this challenge in the interest of our customers and the attractiveness of our products, we have decided to use a new type of process for repairs from summer 2023.

    In order to reduce the waiting time for our customers to a minimum and also to make repair costs transparent, we will exchange defective devices directly for equivalent or newer devices at a fixed, flat-rate repair price. The price is calculated on the basis of the average repair cost price. In a case covered by warranty, it is waived completely.

  • Happy Pilots.

    The effect of this is that our customers can enjoy the benefit of a direct replacement unit as soon as there is a defect, without incurring higher costs. It is no longer necessary to shut down the aircraft by removing the unit and waiting for the repair. Rather, a replacement unit will be shipped immediately after the need for repair is reported and the process is clarified. The defective unit can then be returned to us later and at your leisure.

    The process is not only applied to new equipment but to the entire fleet of Air Avionics systems that have been in service for many years. Since we do not have a sufficient quantity of spare parts for all systems, we will occasionally offer to exchange old systems for new systems from current production at a goodwill price.

    Please note that this offer is only valid for repairable defects. In case of a total loss (e.g. due to accident, water, fire) we ask you to contact us. In this case, we offer a device at a goodwill price, without taking back the defective device.

    How does it work?

    What happens in the event of a warranty claim?

    If your device has a defect that could be covered by the warranty, please contact our customer service. Our service will decide on the warranty case and if it is positive, will provide you with a discount code so that you can order your replacement device free of charge.

    What if my device is not defective?

    If you are not sure whether your device is defective or not, you can send it in for testing/updating. You will then receive your device back after it has been processed. Testing is also offered at a flat rate.

    Please note that there may be a long turnaround time for testing at peak times. It is usually worthwhile to isolate the problem with the help of our customer service team and, if necessary, rectify it at your site.

    What if only a small thing is defective, e.g. a broken bolt or a lost knob?

    In order to have a solution ready in cases of smallest damages, we offer favorable spare parts. Minor repairs of non-approved devices or parts that do not affect the approval of the device are thus made possible directly by you or a technically experienced person in your environment. Please note that no warranty can be given on these repairs.

    What happens if a device is irreparable?

    Our prices have been calculated based on average repair prices. However, this does not include cases where the device is beyond repair, e.g. due to water damage, fire damage, or extreme damage after a crash. In such exceptional cases, we ask you to contact us in advance. We will then offer you an accommodating price for the purchase of a device without returning the defective device.

    Can it not be that a repair would actually be much cheaper?

    We have set the prices to cover our average cost price. In some cases, the repair costs would be lower, but equally often they would be higher.

    In addition, return shipping is still available. Please note that there can be very long processing times and that full repair costs will be charged. This can often be more expensive than the flat repair rate.

    What is the condition of the exchange equipment?

    Exchange devices are new devices or used devices that have undergone an extensive revision at our factory.

    Housing parts may show signs of use, but technically the devices are flawless and always as good as new.

    We take care to deliver devices in at least the same optical condition as your previous device. We offer a full one-year warranty on exchange units, which is an advantage over repairs, where a warranty is only given on repaired parts.

    What if I only want to have an update done?

    You can send in your device for testing/updating. You will then receive your device back after processing. The test is also offered at a flat rate.

    Please note that there may be a long turnaround time for testing at peak times.

    Most of our devices can be updated at your site. It is therefore usually worthwhile to carry out the update at your site with the help of our customer service team.
