1What you need
- A USB stick (USB-A) of 16 GB at most, formatted as FAT32 (allocation unit “default”, not exFAT). No hub, no microSD card in a card reader.
- Access to the AT-1's own USB connection (USB-C at the unit, usually via the supplied extension cable B582 to a USB-A panel jack). Not the microSD card of an AIR Traffic Display.
- AT-1 software version 35. A configuration file only fits the software version it was written with (see step 6).
2Bring the unit to version 35
Check the version: plug an empty FAT32 stick into the AT-1, supply it with power for 5–10 minutes, switch it off and remove the stick. The file AT_INFO.LOG on the stick shows the version in the line SWVER= (not IOSWVER=). If it is not 35, update the unit first:
3Read the current configuration
With software 35 on the unit, the same empty stick from step 2 now carries an AT_INFO.LOG with the unit's complete configuration: every setting with its title, description, valid values and default. Keep a copy, for example before a unit is exchanged.
3Aktuelle Konfiguration auslesen
4Change settings
On the unit (recommended by the installation manual): connect a laptop, tablet or phone to the AT-1's WiFi (password: AT1- and the five-digit serial number with leading zeros, e.g. AT1-00003) and open http://192.168.1.1 in the browser. “No internet” is normal. The simple configuration mode covers normal installations; use the expert mode only as instructed by AIR Avionics support.
Without the aircraft, in the simulator:
- Open the simulator and click Load configuration file into the AT-1. Choose the
AT_INFO.LOGfrom step 3 (or a configuration file made from it). The simulated AT-1 reads it at once with its own software, as your unit reads it from a stick, and shows the result as your unit does (USB CFG · READ FILE DONE, LED 3 green). - Change the settings on the simulated configuration page, or answer the questions of the configuration wizard.
- Click Download configuration file. You get the
AT_INFO.LOGthe simulated AT-1 writes, already renamed toAT_CONFIG.TXT.
- Konfigurationsdatei herunterladen anklicken. Sie erhalten das
AT_INFO.LOG, das das simulierte AT-1 schreibt, schon umbenannt inAT_CONFIG.TXT.
5Load the configuration file into the AT-1
- Copy
AT_CONFIG.TXTinto the top folder of an empty FAT32 stick. (AnAT_INFO.LOGfrom a unit becomes a configuration file the same way: rename it to.TXT.) The AT-1 reads every file ending in .TXT on the stick, so put no other .TXT files on it. - With the AT-1 switched off, plug the stick into its USB connection and switch it on. The AT-1 reads a stick only while it starts.
- Watch the status LEDs (on the back of the unit, LED 1 next to the USB socket):
An AIR Traffic Display connected to the AT-1 shows the same as text:all three blink blue searching for the stick LED 3 green file read: the settings are in the unit LED 3 yellow no file or a file that does not fit (step 6) LED 3 red syntax error in the file (step 6) USB CFG·READ FILE DONE,NO FILE,BAD FILEorSYNTAX ERROR. - Leave the unit on for a few minutes: it then writes a new
AT_INFO.LOGto the stick. Switch off and remove the stick: as long as the .TXT file is on a stick in the unit, it is read again at every start. - Check: the new
AT_INFO.LOGor the configuration page at 192.168.1.1 shows your settings.
5Konfigurationsdatei ins AT-1 laden
6If it does not work
- LED 3 yellow, “BAD FILE”: the file was written by another software version (its line
CFG_FORMAT=AT1,…must name the unit's version, here 35). Update the unit (step 2), let it write a newAT_INFO.LOG(step 3) and make your changes on that one. - LED 3 yellow, “NO FILE”: no file ending in .TXT in the top folder of the stick. Check the name (e.g. not
AT_CONFIG.TXT.txt). - LED 3 red, “SYNTAX ERROR”: a line holds a value the AT-1 does not accept. The unit reads the file line by line and stops at that line: the settings above it are already applied. Write the file again with the simulator instead of editing it by hand.
- Nothing happens, no new files on the stick: try another stick (FAT32, 16 GB at most, nothing else on it, no hidden files), check that the USB-C plug at the unit is seated, and that the jack really belongs to the AT-1.
The simulator runs the real AT-1 software version 35 on a server of AIR Avionics, with simulated FLARM and 1090 MHz modules and without an aircraft: traffic, GPS position and the module versions shown are those of the simulation.
